Fonts Pt. 2 Lower case- Assignment 5

This is the font sheet with both lower case and capital letters!
This assignment is the continuation of assignment 4, but this time I had to create the lower case letters, numbers 0-9, and a few characters. I used the same brush that I used for the capitals, and made sure to keep everything the same as much as possible! I have to say this second part was really hard since the lower case letters were not easy to draw and it did not help that I kept shaking so much while I was drawing. As for the numbers I have to admit with the brush I was using it was making it a bit difficult to draw them, but I found a way to get it to work after a few failed attempts. Lastly, I was trying to draw the characters and the comma was a struggle to draw since I could not draw a comma to save my life! Also, my fonts keep turning weird in Font Creator, but I did my best to make it look nice! I will say this was fun to learn but I don't think I will be doing this again anytime soon.

Fonts Pt. 1 Capitals- Assignment 4

My elegant capital font I designed!

So in this assignment I had to create my own font, well I got an idea and I really wanted a fancy and elegant font that was unique. I found some Illustrator brushes and began drawing every letter by hand on my drawing tablet, which I rarely use. It was a long process due to the fact that all the the letters had to be preserved, put into a font sheet, and then uploaded into Font Creator. I had an especially hard time drawing the letters O, Q, and U they would come out so funky and I didn't like it at all, but I finally got a look that I liked the most. Otherwise I think this was interesting since I now know what it's like to make font by hand and I will say I'm not sure if I would do this again.

Vinyl Design- Assignment 3

A selfie of me and my vinyl design!

This is my vinyl design or sticker design I created of my fave Japanese Vocaloid characters. In this assignment I found out we had to have three colors, but when I saw all the different colored vinyl I got a stroke of inspiration and decided to make each character and have them cut to the color that represented them all. Also I chose black for the background since it ties in all of the colors perfectly, as for the text 'My World' it just represents that anime is my life, and that it is also where I get most of my creative inspiration for my projects.

So this assignment took me a while due to the fact that I had to draw each and every character individually and make sure they were all on separate layers. After that I converted it to a lower version of Illustrator and I then put them each separately into the sticker program to be cut. I have to admit the cutting was difficult and easy, and the reasons are 1) it cuts quickly and you don't have to wait to long to get the others started afterwards, 2) Even though they got cut the machine was not properly calibrated so it cut some of them a little sloppy and I had to take a small exacto knife and clean them up, and 3) Lastly, there were a bit of technical errors so I had to redo a lot of things to make the process easier. Otherwise, when I stuck them on it was quite magical how I had to use masking tape to help transfer over the stickers to the main background, which I did get some help with doing that! Though this has to be my favorite project so far, especially since I plan to make more stickers in the future!!

Draw-in Effects (Assignment 1)

In this first assignment I was trying to capture the essence of how Kaito is by finding brushes that were of more glitz and glam to match his style. I placed the patterns in a fun way with various colors that didn't clash to much with the background or were not visible. In Flash I took my time to make sure that each piece was done so that way when it animated it looked more natural and fun. As for After Effects I added a bit more contrast to the video to kind of make Kaito stand out more since the picture was so faded. One thing that I was having trouble with is my video cut off to quick instead of staying for a bit longer, but I noticed this a little to late and was not able to reedit it.

My First Post!!

My 3D Box art that I created in Illustrator!

Hi my name is Rosa and I am currently getting my degree in Digital Design at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom. I will soon be graduating from Digital Design at the end of Spring Quarter and I plan to use my skills to get various jobs in Graphic's Design. My dream is I want to be a video game designer and work for Square Enix or Nintendo, but my other idea is to work in the anime business as a Manga Editor. I also like to play video games, watch anime, read manga, and draw, but only during my free time when I'm at home or not working on projects for my classes.
